LAURA GREEN
As a primary caregiver to four children, my work explores the connection between parent and child. Using photographic references, I depict my personal experience of being a mother, a primary caretaker and a homeschooling parent. My purpose is to highlight the reciprocal nature of the parent-child relationship and show it is never static, but changing over time. The combination of gestural and realistic rendering creates a sense of movement in my paintings. I like to show children engaging with nature, or interacting with each other. We are all seeking connection, between parent and child and also between strangers and friends. We all desire to be seen, heard, and felt in some tangible way and my artistic practice makes that possible.
